Candide was scouted at the age of 18 and participated in Elite Model look of the year 1990. After that she joined her first agency in Amsterdam. At the same time she started studying Architecture at the Technical University in Delft and graduated there in 1997. She worked freelance as an architect for two years but her career as a model took off and she loved it so much that she started to work as a fulltime model from that moment on. She worked for many magazines and catalogs. She also featured in TV Commercials, for brands as Head and Shoulders, Mont Blanc, Philips, Renauld, various musicvideo’s, Milner cheese, Postbank, Purina Catfood, Korres haircolor and more.
She worked for various catalogues in France, England, Belgium, Sweden and Germany, working for the same client more than ten, sometimes, twenty-five years in a row! One of the most memorable shoots was a shoot for a Swedish catalogue, for which she traveled to the Whistler Mountains in Canada and for which they flew in a bright red helicopter and landed on a snow-covered high mountain and did the photoshoot. On the way back they saw a few black bears. The teams were always with people of various nationalities, and she loved these trips a lot meeting so many people. A photoshoot on Bali, where she had to sit on an elephant who suddenly walked into a lake, is also unforgettable.
Candide is also a visual artist, making sculptures and stopmotionanimation. And she works as a photographer, mainly making portraits and model portfolios. She has her own daylight studio in the center of Amsterdam.
She also has a passion for a variety of sports, including tennis, race biking, swimming, windsurfing and dancing. In summer her family lives in a little beach house at the north coast where they live mostly outside and can practice all these outdoor sports on a daily basis.
She is a mother of two teenagers and happy together with her partner for more than 30 years. Her family and love and respect for nature are the most important things in her life right now.
Candide loves her modeling job, embraces getting older in a natural way, and is very grateful to still work as a model for more than thirty years. Her grey hair gets her a lot of new clients which keeps her work still very interesting after so many years!
