At the age of 18, Daniella was walking to the University of Amsterdam where she was studying English literature when a woman approached her and asked her to become a model. Things went pretty quickly from there, she was signed with Ford Models and traded in her small Dutch farm town for Paris, putting her studies on hold.
After many days of endless castings by métro, top photographer André Rau took a liking to her and booked her for a string of campaigns and magazines. She walked some fashion shows in Paris and Rome, and did one very exciting fashion show wearing the clothing from the nominated movies at the Academy Awards in LA.
She did editorials for French Vogue, British and Dutch Marie-Claire, French, American and Dutch Elle, and traveled all over the world for catalogs, campaigns and magazines working with the best teams. Demarchelier, Bensimon, Avedon and many more. Some campaigns include Chanel, Armani Jeans, Covergirl, Clairol, Maybelline, Express, La Perla, Wolford, and Hanes.
After 2 1/2 years, she decided to move to New York as she was frequently going there for jobs and really liked the excitement there. In the US, she continued to book modeling jobs for big companies and was on the cover of Fitness magazine many times. She started booking commercials, starting with a Pepsi one with Sean Hayes. Countless commercials followed, especially for hair and skin care. Schwarzkopf, Clairol, and Thermasilk to name a few.
She had a contract with Aveeno skincare for many years. Because of all the commercials she started some acting as well. She was in a movie with Bruce Willis and an episode of the tv show Entourage. She was on the Dutch show ‘ Mooiste meisje van de klas’ where they portrayed perfectly how she’s able to live both this glamorous life in fashion, and have a completely normal family home life.
Her biggest accomplishment is her marriage to her high school teacher and basketball coach husband and their three beautiful children. In her time off, she loves being with her family and taking her two rescue dogs to the beach in Rockaway, NY where she lives and continues to model. She loves going out with her friends. She is a major goofball and is thrilled to still be working steadily in the industry after 30 years.
